Last year I purchased a SONY SFR-M37V Radio and use it all the time. My wife liked it so much that we purchased a second one for her. The size and reception is unbeatable.
I have had this radio for about 18 months and based on my past and present use, would have rated it 4 or 5 stars. As your Walkman has analog tuner, it can not receive digital signals after the transmission changes to digital." I am quite disappointed. So, if you are thinking of buying this radio so you can listen to TV broadcasts, you need to know it will not work for that after the transmissions go digital early in 2009. I use it at work to listen to the radio or, most often, the audio portion of TV programs. But with all the ads about television channels all going digital early next year, I wondered whether my little radio would still be able to receive TV broadcasts. So I emailed the Sony customer service and got this reply: "I understand that you want to know if your Sony Walkman receives digital TV signals. It is still a nice little radio to take to the gym or on walks, but there are many nice little radios and some MP3 players also receive FM channels. I hope Sony or another company comes out with a product that will receive the digital TV transmissions.
I bought one and took it to the gym. I took it back to Walmart and got another one. It worked for about a week, then it would simply turn off if jiggled. It finally just would not turn back on. It did the same thing. $35 down the drain.
Swap the battery quickly when it's time for a new one and the radio retains all the presets in its memory. The presets are perfect. I love this radio. For the price, this is a perfect am/fm/tv sound radio. The simple layout with big fat buttons is a breeze to operate even when fumbling in the dark (if you should have such an occasion). Great power and battery life on just 1 AAA battery. I use nice earbuds with this radio. I even plug in a small external speaker when I want to carry the radio around the house with me.
Great sounding unit and the headphones sound great but are bulky. Will the TV channel functions work after TV signals go digital. We'll see. If u plan on working out with this unit do yourself a favor and buy new headphones.
